In exchange for your communication, we will provide you with daily reports about your child’s activities that day including comments about meals, toilet training or diapering, nap time, and your child’s general well being for the day. Cleanliness Policies and Procedures

Cleanliness is a priority here at Exploration Station. Our teachers are trained in preventing disease and proper cleaning measures to ensure the health and safety of our children. We take the following precautions to heart in order to provide the healthiest environment for your children.

  • We disinfect every inch of the classroom, equipment and toys used throughout each day.
  • We prepare all meals and snacks in a commercial grade kitchen that undergoes routine inspections from the Health department. We follow all state and local standards in kitchen sanitation.
  • Every room has a classroom-cleaning checklist that teachers follow everyday to make sure every room is clean and safe.
  • We have an onsite laundry system for immediate and nightly cleaning of all linens and machine washable toys.
  • Hand washing with soap and warm water is required of all employees and children throughout the day. Hand washing is scheduled right into our daily routine, so no one ever misses a chance to clean their hands. There are child size sinks in every room.
  • Teachers wear a clean pair of gloves during each diaper change or toilet time to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Diaper changing stations are sanitized after each diaper change. We also sanitize every cot and crib after each use.
  • In our infant room we sanitize every toy that enters a child’s mouth before another child is given the toy to play with.
  • We have a professional cleaning crew that routinely cleans and sanitizes every square inch of Exploration Station.
  • We have routine pest control services to maintain the environment from unwanted visitors from nature.

Safety Precautions-

We understand how important your child’s safety is to you. Safety is of the utmost importance to us here at Exploration Station. Security measures we take include:

Electronic Security-

Our Facilities include a key fob entry, so only staff and families with an activated Key Fob can access the entrance. This means unauthorized visitors are never a risk to your child’s safety.

Classroom Check-in/out-

Each classroom is equipped with a Teacher assigned touch screen laptop for sign in and sign out. This gives teachers the opportunity to visually check in and out each child to ensure the child is coming and going with the approved adult. When you place your finger on the pad, your picture and that of your approved adults, registers on the computer to ensure your child goes home with your designee.

If you are not picking up your child that day and your approved adult is not available, you must fill out the Authorized Pick Up Form. Upon arrival, your designee must go to the front office to get a slip authorizing pick up from the teacher. Teachers will not release children unless you are the parent, parent approved adult or you have the authorization slip from the front office. Our school administrators maintain updated files on authorized contacts in case of an illness or unforeseen emergency.

Security Cameras-

Security cameras are in every classroom, hallway and at every entry into the building. The director and staff easily observe classroom activities and the coming and goings of each day.

Hiring Process-

Teachers are given extensive state mandated background checks. They are also required to have Infant and Child CPR and First Aid training. They also must obtain ongoing training every year.

Office Staff-

The front desk is continuously staffed. Our office staff monitors classrooms, hallways and doorways throughout the day. Visitors must go to the front desk to gain entrance into Exploration Station, so there is no worry about unauthorized visitors.

Our method of maintaining health records, immunization records and emergency contacts ensures they are kept up to date and confidential.

After-School Pick up and Field Trips

Our bus drivers maintain a Commercial Driver’s License and are trained in bus safety procedures. They are Infant and Child CPR and First Aid certified. Our Bus is equipped with first-aid supplies, fire extinguishers, mobile phone and emergency information on each child riding in the vehicle. The bus is cleaned daily. Our specific Bus drop-off and pick-up procedures ensure no child is left behind.

All toys, playground equipment and manipulatives are routinely inspected for wear and tear. We also regularly check for any recalls on materials in our facility. Our food preparation and storage is monitored to ensure safe, nutritious meals along with sanitary food preparation surfaces. We have routine pest control services to maintain the environment from unwanted visitors from nature.
